Englewood Water District has contracted with USSI to perform sewer smoke testing in the Englewood Isles and Alameda Isles neighborhoods. USSI will be placing door hangers throughout the inspection area prior to performing any work.  Their work will begin on Monday, June 1st, 2026.

This test, which involves forcing smoke into the sanitary sewer lines, will check for leaks, breaks, and defects in the system. This smoke testing is part of our continuing effort to provide a safe, economical, efficient, and environmentally sound sewer system. The smoke used for this test is manufactured for this purpose, leaves no residuals or stains, and does not affect plants and animals. Your cooperation in this process will help us maintain a high-quality sewer system for the community.

The smoke is completely safe, odorless, and does not create a fire hazard. It should not enter your home or business unless you have defective plumbing or dried-up drain traps. Please run sinks, showers, and flush any infrequently used toilets to avoid this. Please use the link below for more information if you have any questions.
